The Price of Paradise

Chokdee was wondering whether today would be rainy and windy like yesterday, or more like what we want from paradise. Here's your answer...

Paradise has returned! After breakfast the water became calm and the visibility was incredible so we snorkelled in the lagoon. Huge lobsters investigating who we are, followed by hundreds of fish and a massive sting ray really made the day. In-between snorkelling, we laid about in the sun and now Mindy has the whitest bottom you have ever seen! I have photographic proof but apparently it's not fit for public consumption... :-)

Here is Mindy experiencing this wonderful day

Here's a shot of me...

Taking a shot of this...

Each villa has numbers on the water side too so you don't get out into someone else's villa! Good job too!

As the day was so beautiful, we went on a snorkelling trip. This is where the day went slightly downhill. The storm last night brought in swarms of 'blue bottles' - Potuguese Man O'War, a jellyfish-like creature that stings you if you touch its tentacles.

Anyway, we got to a beautiful reef and all jumped in. The very obliging Korean tourists did what they were told, swam head first to the snorkelling area but never looked up, resulting in stings on one guy's face, a woman's arm and another fella's buttocks! The poor things. Apparently it's painful! We bobbed around in sheer beauty but decided to get out. Too risky.

So no snorkelling the reef but we did return to shore and witness a double rainbow

So all in all, a good day! And to top it off, a dead baby whale has just drifted into the lagoon. Minging but fascinating!

So a fact for the day. You'll never find the end of a rainbow. And every person will see the rainbow ever so slightly different because it is based on your position to the rain and the sunlight refracting through the drops of water, spreading the white light into its 7 constituent colours: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. There is a theory that there are only 6 colours as it was Newton who really advanced the science of optics and for there to only be 6 colours can't be right. 6 is the number of the devil and Newton was trying to prove God's laws. So that's why the blue to violet end of the spectrum may seem a bit less defined, Newton turned 6 colours into 7.
